Hi, I’m Emily!
I’m a design student at the University of California, Davis with a background in graphic design and illustration. Right now, I’m especially interested in UX/UI, graphic design, illustration, and interactive design, but I’m also the kind of person who wants to try just about anything creative at least once.
Before transferring to UC Davis, I earned two Associate of Arts degrees from Sierra College in Applied Arts & Graphic Design and Applied Arts & Illustration. Having a foundation in both art and design has shaped the way I work today. I love the visual side of design, but I’m just as interested in how something works, how someone interacts with it, and how an idea develops from a sketch into a finished experience.
I grew up in Nevada County, where I was surrounded by a really wonderful mix of art, nature, and interesting architecture. All three still influence me. I’m drawn to thoughtful, human-centered design, visual storytelling, sustainability, and finding ways to make everyday experiences a little more beautiful and enjoyable.
Off the Artboard...
When I’m not working on a design project, I’m probably drawing, decorating spaces, gardening and keeping way too many houseplants, birdwatching, playing video games, traveling, or spending time with cats and the people I love. I’m also the kind of person who can spend a crazy amount of time rearranging a gallery wall or admiring the packaging of something I bought at the grocery store.
I’m currently looking for opportunities to work with other creative people, contribute to real projects, and explore where my interests can take me as a designer. Feel free to check out my work, take a look at my resume, or reach out through LinkedIn or email. I’d love to connect!
